Miami International Airport Contract Worker Arrested for Selling Passenger's Stolen Cartier Watch
A contract worker at Miami International Airport (MIA) was arrested after allegedly selling a Cartier watch belonging to an American Airlines passenger. The passenger inadvertently left a black leather crossbody bag, valued at $260 and containing items worth approximately $12,377.90, including a Cartier Santos watch and AirPods, on a flight from North Carolina to Miami on June 8. The passenger initially tracked the AirPods around MIA using an app before the signal ceased. On July 1, the passenger discovered what they believed to be their missing Cartier watch, identifiable by a distinctive gash, listed for sale on DannysVintageWatches.com, a New York-based website. Investigators traced the watch's sale through several jewelry brokers, ultimately leading to Carlos Elky Penton, 45, of Hialeah. Penton, an employee of Eulen, a company contracted to service aircraft at MIA, sold the watch for $1,500, significantly below its market value, three days after the bag went missing.
