The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) has updated its rules to streamline processes for employers, aiming to simplify doing business with the department while maintaining accountability. These changes are part of a broader effort to modernize Georgia's unemployment insurance system. Key updates include a new process for reporting new hires when a Social Security Number (SSN) is not immediately available. Employers can now use a department-approved placeholder number for quarterly wage reports, provided they document reasonable efforts to obtain the valid SSN and submit a corrected report within 30 days of acquiring it.
