Massachusetts State Police Trooper and Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Lynnfield Crash
A Massachusetts State Police trooper, Kevin Trainor, was killed in a head-on collision with a wrong-way driver on Route 1 in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning as Trainor responded to reports of a wrong-way driver. The driver of the other vehicle, a 50-year-old man from Roslindale, was also killed in the crash. Trainor, who had been a trooper for three years, was praised for his dedication and bravery by Massachusetts State Police Col. Geoffrey Noble and Governor Maura Healey. The crash led to the temporary closure of Route 1 as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. An investigation is underway, with the Essex County District Attorney's Office reviewing surveillance footage to determine how the wrong-way driver entered the highway.
