Towson University Appoints Nora Demleitner as Executive Director of Cardin Center
Towson University has announced the appointment of Nora Demleitner as the new executive director of the Ben and Myrna Cardin Center for Civic Engagement & Civil Discourse, effective September 8. Demleitner was selected after an extensive national search, bringing over 30 years of experience in public service, legal affairs, and higher education to the role. She previously served as president of St. John’s College in Annapolis and as dean of the Washington and Lee University School of Law. Her academic background includes a juris doctor from Yale Law School and a master of laws degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Notably, Demleitner clerked for current U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. when he was a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The Cardin Center, launched a year prior, aims to be a hub for community dialogue, service, and understanding, with a mission to advance civil discourse and strengthen American democracy.
