U.S. Department of Energy Launches Funding to Enhance Microgrids in Remote Regions
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a new funding opportunity aimed at strengthening microgrid infrastructure in remote and industrial regions across the United States. This initiative, part of the Community Microgrid Assistance Partnership (C-MAP), offers up to $2.5 million in direct project funding and $1 million in technical assistance. The goal is to support energy providers, local governments, and community organizations in developing or enhancing microgrids. These systems are crucial for delivering reliable and secure electricity in areas with high energy costs and poor grid reliability. The funding emphasizes projects that support industrial development, including those serving large energy users like critical mineral operations and enterprise-scale computing centers.
