FDA Issues Class I Recall for Salata Salad Kitchen Jalapeño Avocado Dressing and Coco G’s Popcorn Due to Salmonella Risk
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has assigned a Class I risk classification to the recall of Salata Salad Kitchen Jalapeño Avocado Dressing and Coco G’s Gourmet Flaming Cheddar Hots Spicy Cheddar Cheese Popcorn due to possible Salmonella contamination. The Salata dressing recall, initiated by Salata Dressings, LLC, on August 6, covers 1,724 cases distributed in Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas. The contamination is linked to a multi-state Salmonella outbreak associated with jalapeños. Separately, Coco G’s Snack Foods, Inc., voluntarily recalled 270 bags of popcorn on May 5, distributed in Illinois and Wisconsin, also due to potential Salmonella. Class I is the FDA’s most serious recall category, indicating a reasonable probability of serious adverse health consequences or death. Symptoms of Salmonella typically include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, with severe cases potentially leading to serious infections in vulnerable populations.
