Senator Cortez Masto Reintroduces Legislation to Aid Human Trafficking Survivors
U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, alongside Senator Jerry Moran, has reintroduced bipartisan legislation aimed at assisting human trafficking survivors in accessing air travel and necessary care. The legislation, known as the Jimmy Deal Trafficking Survivors Assistance Act, seeks to address the issue of survivors lacking identification documents, which hinders their ability to travel by plane. This initiative is inspired by the late TSA Assistant Federal Security Director Jimmy Deal, who facilitated airport security clearance for survivors in Reno, Nevada. The bill proposes a nationwide partnership between TSA agents and anti-human trafficking service providers to help survivors access essential care. The legislation has garnered support from various organizations, including the American Association of Airport Executives and Polaris.
