Hero Cat Alerts Owner to NVIDIA RTX 4090 Meltdown, Prevents Fire
A PC owner credited their cat with saving them from a potentially dangerous situation when their NVIDIA RTX 4090 began to melt and smoke. The incident occurred when the user stepped away from their computer, only to hear their cat meowing loudly from another room. Upon returning, the owner discovered smoke and a burning smell emanating from the PC due to a melted GPU power connector. The quick action of unplugging the system prevented further damage. This incident highlights ongoing issues with the RTX 4090's 16-pin 12VHPWR power connectors, which have been reported to overheat or melt under certain conditions.
