Pennsylvania Establishes $10 Million Fund for Farmers Affected by April Freeze
The state of Pennsylvania has created a $10 million fund to assist fruit farmers who suffered significant crop losses due to a late-April freeze. The unexpected frost, which affected 13 states on the East Coast, caused nearly $200 million in damages to Pennsylvania's fruit crops, including peaches, nectarines, and cherries. The fund, part of the state budget, aims to help farmers who lost 30% or more of their crops. The initiative follows calls for federal assistance and the expansion of low-interest loan options for affected farmers.
