YouTube Introduces AI-Powered Custom Feeds for Enhanced User Control in the U.S.
YouTube is rolling out AI-powered custom feeds, allowing users in the U.S. to directly influence their video recommendations. This new feature enables users to input natural-language instructions to describe the type of content they wish to see, moving beyond traditional recommendation systems based solely on viewing history and algorithms. The system leverages Google’s Gemini AI technology to interpret these requests and generate personalized feeds. These custom feeds are designed to supplement, rather than replace, YouTube’s existing homepage recommendations. The initiative is part of YouTube's broader 'Made On YouTube 2026' announcements, which also include expanding AI use in conversational editing tools for creators and within YouTube Music. The custom feeds will be available across web, mobile devices, and televisions in the U.S. starting this autumn.
