U.S. Rep. Pete Aguilar Secures $1.031 Million NIST Award for CSUSB AI Research and Retraining Center
U.S. Rep. Pete Aguilar has secured a $1.031 million National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Congressionally Identified Projects award for the AI Research and Retraining Center (ARRC) at Cal State San Bernardino (CSUSB). This two-year project, supported by U.S. Sen. Adam Schiff, aims to provide CSUSB with new resources to study emerging technologies and develop practical methods to prepare individuals for an AI-shaped economy. The ARRC will integrate research, hands-on technology, and workforce training to help the Inland Empire adapt to changes driven by AI, robotics, and virtual reality. The center will explore how AI and automation are transforming jobs and will develop an AI Retraining Portal and training materials to help workers, students, and community partners safely and effectively use AI tools. It will also include hands-on training through its robotics lab and outreach programs for workers at risk of displacement.
