Hancock Prospecting Demands Apology from ABC Over Violent Depiction of Gina Rinehart
Hancock Prospecting has called for a public apology from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) following the airing of a controversial segment in the 'Race Around the World' series. The segment, which depicted graphic violence against Gina Rinehart, the head of Hancock Prospecting, has been criticized for allegedly encouraging and normalizing violence. The ABC defended the segment, describing it as satirical and editorially justifiable. The segment, created by contestant Kate McGuinness, included a character who made a violent reference to Rinehart, which was broadcasted in full during a July 12 episode. Hancock Prospecting argues that the content, having passed through ABC's production and editorial processes, cannot be dismissed as an unscripted comment. The company insists that the ABC's actions are inconsistent with its editorial responsibilities and demands a public apology.
