Women Account for Entire Labor Force Decline in July Jobs Report
According to the National Women's Law Center, women accounted for 100% of the decline in the labor force in July, with 165,000 women aged 20 and over leaving the workforce. This brings the total number of women who have left the labor force since January to 845,000, compared to 406,000 fewer men. The leisure and hospitality sector lost 40,000 jobs, with women losing 63,000 jobs while men gained 23,000 jobs. The report highlights the disproportionate impact of job losses on women, who make up 50.1% of the workforce.
