Researchers Suggest Daily Multivitamin May Enhance Independence in Older Adults
A recent study presented at the NUTRITION 2026 meeting by researchers from the Georgia Prevention Institute suggests that daily multivitamin intake may help older adults maintain their independence. The study, involving over 16,000 participants aged 60 and above, found that those who took a daily multivitamin reported better functional health compared to those who received a placebo. The research, part of the COcoa Supplement Multivitamins Outcomes Study (COSMOS), indicates potential benefits in cognitive health, circulation, and physical endurance. The findings were presented by Bayu B. Bekele, PhD, and Yanbin Dong, MD, PhD, highlighting the importance of functional health in daily life rather than just disease prevention.
