Sibanye-Stillwater Investigates Fatal Incident at Kloof 8 Shaft in South Africa
Sibanye-Stillwater, a global mining and metals processing group, reported the deaths of two employees at its Kloof 8 shaft in South Africa. The incident occurred during a routine inspection when an inspection platform detached from the main winder conveyance, leading to a fatal fall. The company has halted operations at the shaft and is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Sibanye-Stillwater is providing support and counseling to the families and colleagues of the deceased, and has notified relevant authorities as per regulatory requirements.
