CBS News Correspondent Matt Gutman Accused of Sexual Harassment in Lawsuit by Former ABC Producer
CBS News chief correspondent Matt Gutman is facing accusations of sexual harassment in a new lawsuit filed by Samira Said, a former ABC News field producer. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles on August 14, alleges that Gutman made a "sexualized insinuation" about Said during their time at ABC News. Said claims that Gutman, currently a lead correspondent at '48 Hours,' initiated a conversation where he rated a female correspondent's appearance numerically and later made a remark implying Said had an after-hours date when they disagreed about leaving a work site. Said's attorney, Aaron Gbewonyo, stated that the circumstances surrounding her termination constitute "clear violations of the law" and accused ABC of "unlawful conduct." Gutman has previously faced scrutiny, including a suspension from ABC News in 2020 for erroneous reporting on the Kobe Bryant helicopter crash and an apology in September for insensitive comments regarding texts from a charged individual.
