Congresswoman Lateefah Simon Appointed Co-Chair of Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls for 120th Congress
Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (CA-12) has been named one of the new co-chairs for the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls (CCBWG) for the upcoming 120th Congress. She will serve alongside Representatives LaMonica McIver (NJ-10), Shontel Brown (OH-11), and current co-chair Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09). This appointment follows the departure of Representatives Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) and Robin Kelly (IL-02), who were instrumental in establishing the caucus a decade ago. The CCBWG was formed to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Black women and girls in the United States, aiming to ensure their voices are heard and represented in policy debates. Congresswoman Simon expressed her deep honor in joining the caucus leadership, drawing on her background working with young girls impacted by the criminal justice system. She emphasized her commitment to advancing federal policies that equitably serve Black women and girls.
