Extreme Heat Warning and Air Quality Alert Issued for Inland Empire
The National Weather Service (NWS) in San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys, including the Inland Empire, effective until 8 PM PDT on Friday, August 28, 2026. High temperatures are expected to reach up to 110°F (43°C), with overnight lows remaining in the 70s (21-26°C), which is 5 to 10 degrees above normal. Additionally, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) has issued an Air Quality Alert for harmful ozone pollution levels in the South Coast Air Basin and Coachella Valley. The alert is in effect from 1 PM Monday, August 24, 2026, through 8 PM Friday, August 28, 2026. Ozone levels are expected to peak in the afternoon and early evening hours.
