Consumer Reports Survey Reveals Widespread Digital Scams, 9 in 10 Americans Encounter Fraud
A recent Consumer Reports survey indicates that digital fraud and cyberattacks are pervasive, with nine out of ten Americans having encountered some form of scam. Alarmingly, 17% of these individuals reported losing money as a direct result of these fraudulent activities. The survey highlights a significant shift in scam tactics, noting that one in five reported scams were personalized using their personal information, suggesting a growing sophistication in fraud attempts, potentially aided by artificial intelligence. Phil Radford, president and CEO of Consumer Reports, emphasized that AI is making fraud faster, cheaper, and more personal, making it difficult for individuals to combat alone.
