Deepfake Detection: Challenges and Advances in Identifying Synthetic Media
Deepfakes, which are media manipulated through AI-driven methods like Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), pose significant risks such as misinformation, cyberbullying, and financial fraud. The detection of deepfakes is becoming increasingly challenging as the technology improves, making the traces they leave behind less visible. Techniques like remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) are used to detect deepfakes by measuring physiological signals that are difficult to fake. The market for deepfake detection is expanding, with new platforms and software being developed to improve real-time detection capabilities.
