Super El Niño Forecasted to Bring Wetter Conditions to Colorado
Colorado is anticipating the development of a super El Niño later in 2026, following the end of La Niña conditions. Historically, El Niño has brought wetter winter conditions to the state, which could provide relief from the current record low snowpack and drought conditions. The National Weather Service suggests that the upcoming El Niño could lead to a strong monsoon season, potentially alleviating some of the dry conditions experienced in recent months. Colorado's weather is influenced by various factors, including Pacific Ocean temperatures and pressure patterns over Texas, which have contributed to the state's early end to winter and rapid snowmelt.
