Bryce Gruber, a creator on TikTok, discovered an AI-generated version of herself promoting a product she had never used, raising concerns about the control of digital likenesses on the platform. The feature, known as AI Cast, allows users to create an 'AI Self' using their face and voice, which can then appear in AI-generated videos. Gruber's experience highlights potential privacy issues, as she found her AI Self settings were set to 'Everyone' by default, allowing others to use her likeness without her explicit consent. TikTok states that users can control who has access to their AI Self and can delete videos featuring their likeness. However, the incident underscores the complexities of digital identity management in the age of AI.
