Flash Flood Near Grand Jean Trailhead Causes Significant Damage and Closures
A flash flood near the Grand Jean Trailhead in Boise County, Idaho, has caused significant damage, trapping and destroying vehicles and campers. The area, which has experienced substantial rainfall recently, saw Highway 21 closed due to a mudslide over the weekend. The Grand Jean Trailhead, located near the site of the 2024 Wapiti fire, is expected to remain closed for an extended period as the Forest Service works to clear the debris. The burn scar from the previous fire contributed to the severity of the flash flooding, turning it into mud and rock slides.
