Sensible Biotechnologies Secures $47 Million to Advance Naturally Modified mRNA Platform
Sensible Biotechnologies, a company focused on developing naturally modified mRNA medicines, has secured $47 million in financing. This funding includes a Series A round led by Oxford Science Enterprises and up to $20 million in non-dilutive funding from the Government of Slovakia and the European Union. The investment will support the advancement and scaling of Sensible's integrated mRNA technology, specifically its VECTOR™ platform. This platform aims to overcome limitations of conventional synthetic mRNA production by using living cells to produce naturally modified mRNA. The company's approach is designed to reduce immunogenicity, achieve high protein expression, and avoid double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) contamination, a common issue with synthetic mRNA. Sensible Biotechnologies plans to use this financing to scale up its VECTOR platform, expand its AI-enabled mRNA design and high-throughput screening capabilities, and develop clinical-grade manufacturing capabilities.
