MonCash Expands Mobile Money Services in Haiti to Enhance Financial Inclusion
MonCash, a mobile money service operated by Caribbean telecommunications company Digicel, is making significant strides in financial inclusion in Haiti. Originally launched in 2010 as TchoTcho Mobile, the service was rebranded as MonCash in 2015. It has grown to serve over two million users, providing essential financial services such as peer-to-peer money transfers, bill payments, merchant transactions, and international remittances. MonCash has partnered with MoneyGram to facilitate international fund deposits directly into users' accounts, bypassing the need for physical pickup locations. Additionally, partnerships with Haitian banks like Sogebank, Unibank, and Capital Bank have been established to integrate users into the formal financial system. The service is particularly crucial in Haiti, where traditional banking access is limited, and mobile phone usage is widespread.
