Scalpers Target 'The Odyssey' Imax Tickets in South Korea Amid High Demand
Christopher Nolan's film 'The Odyssey' is set to open in South Korea, and scalpers are reselling Imax tickets at significant markups. The film ranks second on the Korean Film Council's presales chart, trailing only 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' As the opening approaches, tickets for Imax showings at CGV Yongsan, a major multiplex in Seoul, are appearing on resale platforms at prices up to five times their face value. This resale activity occurs despite a new law banning scalping for concerts and sports events, which does not cover movie tickets. The film's unique Imax format and limited availability have driven demand, leading to high resale prices.
