Virginia Redlon Honored for Contributions to Civil Service and Community in Putnam County
Virginia Redlon, a Senior Personnel Specialist in Putnam County, has been recognized with two community honors: the Carmel Rotary Club’s New Generations Award and the Putnam County Youth Bureau’s Judge James F. Reitz Adult Service Award. Redlon, a Putnam County native and SUNY Purchase College graduate, began her career in county government as a summer intern through the PILOT program (Putnam Invests in Leaders of Tomorrow), which she now administers. Her professional journey in Human Resources was unexpected, as she initially pursued a journalism degree. She credits her former Personnel Officer, Paul Eldridge, as a significant mentor, emphasizing the importance of thorough research and accuracy in her role. Redlon's work encompasses personnel and civil service transactions, onboarding, classifications, and addressing inquiries from various county departments and agencies. Her journalism background has proven beneficial in drafting job specifications, memos, and press releases.
