Charlotte Nonprofit Launches to Restore Rights for Formerly Incarcerated Individuals
The Second Chance Federation, a new nonprofit law firm, has been launched in Charlotte, North Carolina, with the aim of restoring rights for formerly incarcerated individuals. The organization, led by Daryl Atkinson, focuses on reducing fines, recovering driver's licenses, and restoring voting rights for those who have served their sentences. Atkinson, who has personal experience with incarceration, advocates for policy changes that would allow individuals on community supervision to vote, challenging the current barriers posed by fines and legal restrictions.
