Providence Leaders Celebrate Renovation of Davey Lopes Recreation Center
The Davey Lopes Recreation Center in South Providence has undergone a significant renovation, celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Brett Smiley, Governor Dan McKee, Congressman Gabe Amo, and other local leaders. The $7.5 million project, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and other sources, aims to enhance the center's role as a community hub. Improvements include a new computer lab, multipurpose rooms, and upgraded facilities, all designed to support recreation, learning, and community events. The center is part of a broader initiative to establish community learning centers across Rhode Island.
