Hensoldt and Indra Begin Testing ECRS Mk1 Radars for Eurofighter Fleets in Germany and Spain
Hensoldt and Indra Group have initiated live testing of the European Common Radar System (ECRS) Mk1 Step 1 for German and Spanish Eurofighter combat aircraft. Announced on June 5, 2026, the testing marks a significant step in equipping these national fleets with advanced electronically scanned (E-Scan) radar technology. The ECRS Mk1, also known as Captor-E, represents a major upgrade from the previous Captor-M radar, featuring enhanced capabilities for detecting and tracking targets. The testing phase involves the radar being fully fitted with the latest hardware and software, and it is being stimulated with live targets to simulate real-world scenarios. Initial results from these tests have been positive, indicating progress towards airborne trials scheduled for later in 2026.
