Heat Advisories Issued for 43 Florida Counties Amid Dangerous Heat Wave
A significant heat wave has prompted the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue heat advisories for 43 of Florida's 67 counties on July 27, 2026. The heat index, which combines air temperature and relative humidity to measure how hot it feels, is expected to reach dangerous levels, with some areas experiencing values as high as 115°F (46°C). The advisories are in effect for various regions, including Pensacola, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, and parts of Central and South Florida. Extreme heat watches are also in place for July 28, with similar conditions expected to persist. The NWS has warned that nighttime temperatures will remain above 75°F (24°C), offering little relief from the oppressive heat. Residents are urged to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
