Pope Leo XIV is visiting Angola's diamond-rich northeast as part of his Africa tour, where he has been vocal about the country's poverty and exploitation of natural resources. In Saurimo, the capital of Lunda Sul province, the Pope will hold a mass and visit a home for the elderly, highlighting the Catholic Church's support for the region's poor infrastructure. Despite Angola's wealth in diamonds and oil, a significant portion of its population lives in poverty. The Pope's visit aims to address social and environmental issues caused by resource exploitation.
