Silexion Therapeutics Advances SIL204 Cancer Treatment to Combat KRAS Mutations
Silexion Therapeutics Corp., an Israeli company, has announced promising preclinical findings for its cancer treatment, SIL204. The treatment targets KRAS-driven cancers, which are prevalent in pancreatic and non-small cell lung cancers. SIL204 uses small RNA molecules, known as siRNA, to suppress the expression of mutated KRAS genes, a key factor in tumor growth. The treatment has shown significant results in increasing the expression of FAS, an immune 'death receptor', and reducing HLA-G, an immune checkpoint, thereby making cancer cells more susceptible to immune system attacks. These findings support the potential of SIL204 to be used in combination with anti-PD-(L)1 checkpoint inhibitor therapies, especially in cancers like pancreatic cancer where single-agent efficacy has been limited.
