Study Highlights Increased Cancer Risk from Reduced Physical Activity
A recent study published in BMC Medicine has found that even a slight reduction in daily vigorous exercise can elevate cancer risk by 15%. The research, involving 59,218 participants from the UK Biobank, highlights the importance of maintaining physical activity levels to reduce cancer risk. The study found that replacing physical activity with sedentary habits, such as sitting or watching TV, directly contributes to an increased risk of various cancers, including those affecting the bladder, breast, bowel, kidney, and stomach. The research underscores the need for people who lead active lifestyles to continue their routines, as even minor decreases in activity can negatively impact health.
