Airbus Expands MRTT Conversion Capacity with New Facility in Seville
Airbus is expanding its capacity to convert A330 airliners into Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft by opening a new conversion center at its San Pablo facility in Seville, Spain. This expansion is in response to growing demand for the MRTT, which is used for air-to-air refueling and strategic air transport. The new facility will increase Airbus's conversion rate from five to seven MRTTs annually. The Seville site will also handle maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) work, as well as upgrades for MRTTs already in service. The decision to expand in Seville is strategic, as the location meets all critical requirements for complex military conversion programs.
