Indonesian Government Appoints Former Vale Director to Lead PT DSI Amid Export Policy Changes
The Indonesian government has initiated the formation of PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI) to manage the reporting of exports for strategic commodities such as crude palm oil (CPO), coal, and feronikel. Luke Thomas Mahony, a former director of PT Vale Indonesia, has been appointed as the temporary head of PT DSI. This move is part of broader economic initiatives in Indonesia. The government plans to include CPO, coal, and ferro alloy exports in the reporting mechanism through PT DSI starting June 1. However, this plan has raised concerns among exporters, with several palm oil and coal associations questioning the new policy's direction and its market impact. The government is currently in the process of strengthening the team and has not yet announced the complete structure of PT DSI.
