Panama and UAE Offer Tax-Advantaged Digital Nomad Visas with Specific Income Thresholds
Several countries are offering digital nomad visas with favorable local tax treatments for foreign-sourced income. Panama's Remote Worker visa requires an annualized income of $3,000 per month and operates under a territorial tax system, meaning only income earned within Panama is taxed. This visa is valid for nine months and can be extended once for another nine months, but it does not include a family mechanism or a direct path to permanent residency. The UAE's Virtual Work visa requires a monthly income of $3,500 and offers a zero personal income tax regime, regardless of the income source. This is a renewable one-year status, distinct from Golden Visa routes, and family sponsorship is separate. Both countries require evidence of remote work outside their borders. Costa Rica also offers a digital nomad visa with a $3,000 monthly income requirement for solo applicants, providing specific tax treatment for qualifying foreign remote-work income.
