Wildfires in Western U.S. and Canada Force Thousands to Evacuate
Severe drought conditions have fueled over 40 large wildfires across the western United States and more than 100 blazes in western Canada. In Nevada, the Bug Fire near Reno has burned over 15,000 acres, prompting mass evacuations. Meanwhile, the Widemouth 2 Fire in Utah has grown to over 100,000 acres, tragically claiming the lives of two pilots in a helicopter crash. In British Columbia, Canada, the Bald Range Fire has forced over 20,000 people to evacuate from Summerland, located 150 miles east of Vancouver. The province declared a state of emergency on Saturday as high winds and prolonged drought exacerbate the situation. Spokane, Washington, has also experienced significant destruction, with nearly 1,000 structures lost to fires last week.
