Milwaukee Art Museum Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Calatrava Addition, Highlighting Its Impact as a Civic Symbol
The Milwaukee Art Museum is marking the 25th anniversary of its Quadracci Pavilion, designed by Santiago Calatrava, with a year-long celebration beginning August 27. The celebration includes an installation titled 'Built to Inspire: The Quadracci Pavilion at 25,' featuring photography, film, architectural models, and participatory experiences. The museum is also commissioning local artists to interpret the pavilion. Since its opening in 2001, the Calatrava addition, particularly its iconic Burke Brise Soleil, has become a significant visual ambassador for Milwaukee, attracting international attention and serving as a backdrop for major events, including announcements by the Michelin Guide and the Milwaukee Bucks.
