CBS Studios Completes Nationwide AR/VR News Studio Rollout with WCCO Minneapolis Debut
CBS Studios has finalized the implementation of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology across all its owned television stations in the U.S. WCCO Minneapolis is the final CBS-owned station to launch its new AR/VR news studio, marking the completion of this portfolio-wide transformation. This initiative, spearheaded by CBS Television Stations President Jennifer Mitchell, aims to enhance local journalism and storytelling. The new studio at WCCO Minneapolis will allow for innovative presentations of weather and local news, with Chief Meteorologist Chris Shaffer already rehearsing with immersive graphics for forecasts. This makes CBS Stations the only television station group in the country to feature AR/VR news studios across all its properties. The 1,200-square-foot studio in Minneapolis is the 15th and final CBS Stations' news studio to integrate this proprietary technology.
