Congressman Garamendi Secures $500,000 for BART Station LED Upgrades in El Cerrito
Congressman John Garamendi (CA-08), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, has secured $500,000 for the El Cerrito Plaza BART Station. This funding is specifically allocated for BART’s Station LED Lighting Program, which aims to replace older fluorescent fixtures with energy-efficient LED lighting. The upgrade will be implemented across El Cerrito Plaza, Richmond, and Pittsburg/Bay Point BART stations. According to Congressman Garamendi, this initiative is expected to cut BART’s electricity use by approximately 50 percent, leading to improved visibility, enhanced public safety, and reduced operational costs. The $500,000 is part of a larger sum of over $16 million that Congressman Garamendi has secured for his district, intended to bolster critical infrastructure, improve public safety, and support communities throughout Solano and Contra Costa Counties.
