Tamir Cohen Develops 'Angels of the Shelter' to Connect Israelis with Safe Rooms Amid Missile Threats
Tamir Cohen, a biomedical engineering student at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, has developed a website called 'Angels of the Shelter' to help Israelis find safe rooms during missile threats. The initiative connects individuals who have protected spaces in their homes with those who lack such protection. This development comes in response to the reality that over a third of Israelis do not have access to standard protected spaces against ballistic missiles from regions like Iran, Lebanon, Gaza, and Yemen. The website allows users to view available shelters within walking distance and filter them by host type, accessibility, and distance. Cohen's project is part of the LEADERS program at the university, which encourages entrepreneurship and innovation.
