Former LDS Missionary Advocates for Fijian Agriculture as a Business Opportunity
Blake Soifua, a Utah businessman and former LDS missionary, is encouraging young Fijians to view agriculture as a viable business opportunity rather than just traditional farming. Soifua believes that Fiji has the potential to become a global supplier of premium agricultural products if farmers can gain better access to overseas markets. He emphasizes the importance of marketing, noting that products cannot be sold if people are unaware of them. Soifua has traveled across Fiji, engaging with farming communities to understand their challenges, particularly the difficulty in finding reliable overseas markets and increasing exports. He suggests that Fiji could build a global reputation for products like turmeric, ginger, and dalo, similar to the international recognition of Fiji Water.
