The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open on December 11, 2026, as announced by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism. This development comes despite ongoing regional conflicts. The project, a collaboration between Abu Dhabi and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, was initiated in 2006. Construction began in 2011 but faced multiple delays due to controversies, particularly concerning the working conditions of the builders. The museum is expected to be a significant cultural landmark, showcasing contemporary art and enhancing the cultural landscape of the United Arab Emirates.
