Virginia Board of Wildlife Resources Approves Fee Hikes for Recreational Activities
The Commonwealth’s Board of Wildlife Resources has approved fee increases for various wildlife, fisheries, and boating regulations, as announced by the Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR). Starting October 1, a majority of hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses, along with boat registration and titling fees, will increase by $5. However, licenses for youth, apprentices, disabled veterans, and disabled participants will be exempt from these increases. Additionally, a new $10 fee for camping on department-owned lands will be implemented on the same date. These fee adjustments mark the first increase for boating fees since 2019 and for hunting, trapping, and fishing fees since 2012. The approvals followed a 30-day public feedback period, during which over 1,800 comments were received, with more than half specifically addressing the proposed fee hikes.
