South Korea's National AI Project Allocates GPUs to SMEs and Startups for AI Development
South Korea's government has launched a National AI Project aimed at providing high-performance computing resources to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. The initiative involves the allocation of 264 units of B200 GPUs, which are high-performance computing units, to these businesses free of charge through NHN Cloud, a private data center partner. This decision was made during the 6th Science and Technology Minister's Meeting, where the Ministry of Science and ICT allocated a portion of the GPUs procured through Korea's 2025 supplementary budget to ministry-level programs. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) proposed two projects that were approved, allowing them to claim their share of the GPUs. The resources will be available remotely at no cost to selected participants, with applications opening in April, evaluations in May, and support starting in June.
