Ukraine's Antonov An-28 Transformed into Drone Launch Platform
Ukraine has adapted its Soviet-era Antonov An-28 turboprop aircraft to launch interceptor drones, turning it into an airborne carrier. This transformation allows the An-28 to deploy drones to intercept and destroy Russian Shahed drones. The aircraft, originally a civilian transport plane, now features pylons under its wings to carry multiple drones. This adaptation provides a cost-effective solution for Ukraine's air defense, enabling rapid deployment and increased maneuverability against drone threats.
