Clark County Health Officials Report Six New Measles Cases Linked to Ridgefield High School
Clark County Public Health has reported six new cases of measles, all linked to a previous case involving an individual who was present at Ridgefield High School in January. According to Dr. Alan Melnick, the Clark County health officer and Public Health director, these new cases were exposed in non-public locations, and there is currently no evidence of measles spreading in public areas within the county. Among the six new cases, five individuals are under the age of 18, and one is an adult. Health officials noted that five of these individuals were unvaccinated, while the vaccination status of the sixth person remains unverified. The measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is recommended as the most effective protection against measles, with two doses being 97% effective.
