Texas Launches Webpage for Public Complaints on Self-Driving Cars Amid Safety Concerns
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) has introduced a new webpage allowing residents to report safety complaints about self-driving cars. This initiative follows the implementation of Senate Bill 2807, which provides oversight for autonomous vehicles in the state. Texas, leading the nation in the number of self-driving cars, has at least 10 autonomous vehicle taxi companies operating within its borders. Waymo, a prominent player in the industry, recently paused operations in several Texas cities due to safety issues. The TxDMV is tasked with issuing authorizations and ensuring compliance with traffic laws and safety standards for these vehicles.
