In a video released on August 24, 2026, she criticized the U.S. healthcare system, calling its treatment of women "criminal." Ocasio-Cortez highlighted that in France, egg freezing is free for women between 29 and 37, contrasting it with the significant costs in the U.S. Her decision aligns with a broader trend in the United States, where egg freezing cycles have surged since 2014, often driven by career considerations or the desire to find a suitable partner before parenthood. The process typically involves daily hormonal injections for 8-12 days, followed by an outpatient egg retrieval procedure.
